Improve Skin Laxity with Ultherapy
Ultherapy is a non-surgical aesthetic procedure that uses ultrasound technology to improve loose or lax skin on the face, neck or body. While there are other procedures that claim “skin tightening”, this is the first procedure to be FDA-cleared for the lifting of skin tissue. With Ultherapy, one of our licensed providers can treat below the surface of the skin without ever disrupting the top layer of the skin, making it a great alternative to surgery. Ultherapy is a great way to treat skin laxity caused by body contouring treatments.
Ultrasound Skin Tightening Procedure
At the start of your treatment, your provider will cleanse the skin and apply ultrasound gel to the treatment area. Then, the Ulthera handpiece is placed directly on the skin where the gel was applied to deliver low-level focused heat. Although the heat is low-level, there may be mild discomfort dependent upon the patient and area being treated. The amount of time it takes to perform the treatment depends solely on the area being treated, but can vary between 30 to 90 minutes. Noticeable effects can be noticed immediately, but the ultimate lifting takes place over a 3-6-month period due to the time it take for the collagen to be rejuvenated and supplemented with new, stronger collagen. Ultherapy offers a minimal downtime approach to significantly improving lax skin.
Both men and women who have skin laxity without excessive sun damage are great candidates. Patients who have reaped the benefits of body contouring procedures, such as CoolSculpting or CoolTone, may experience skin laxity, and therefore may be good candidates for Ultherapy.
